Dental Examination & Teeth Cleaning
Dental cleanings and exams are the most important preventative procedures that Pershing Family Dental performs to keep your smile in good health. We provide our El Paso patients with comprehensive teeth cleaning treatments that remove plaque, tartar, bacteria, and decay to achieve optimal health for your teeth and gums.
Brushing daily and flossing often helps to keep your teeth looking naturally lighter and healthier, but can only go so far. It's important that a dental professional examines and cleans your teeth at least twice a year to prevent tooth decay and discoloration which naturally happens over time. Our dental hygienist uses tools that reach deep into your teeth and gums to removes plaque that causes decay, chronic bad breathe, and eventually tooth extractions.
Our dental staff and dentist work with patients of all ages to determine dental treatment from examinations and help prevent disease with deep cleanings. After your teeth have been cleaned, flossed, and polished by our hygienist, we will use dental X-rays to determine the state of your teeth and plan out future dental treatment if necessary.
Scaling & Root Planing
If you are suffering from gum disease, you may need to have a scaling and root planing procedure done in order to remove it. Gum and periodontal disease are a serious condition that can lead to bone and tooth loss.
In root scaling and planing, the hygienist will use tools to remove plaque and tartar build up deep below the gum tissue. The procedure is in depth and takes longer than your average teeth cleaning. A local sedative may be used to keep you as comfortable as possible. Ultra sound may also be used to break up plaque and tartar deposits.
The dentist will have instructions for you after the procedure to help prevent discomfort or swelling and maintain healthy gums.
